The house still stands today, drawing paranormal investigators and curious visitors eager to see where the chilling story that inspired the movie took place.

Missouri’s Haunted Rankings Explained

Travel Channel ranked Missouri, tied with Maine and Massachusetts, as the 8th most haunted state among the 50 states. But it’s not just the Doe House or the infamous Lemp Mansion that contribute to this ranking. Even Branson, a major tourist destination, adds to Missouri’s haunted reputation.

Lemp Mansion and Other Haunted Hotspots

For example, many believe the Titanic Museum in Branson is haunted. The theory is that artifacts recovered from the ocean floor, once belonging to passengers who perished on the Titanic, brought lingering spirits with them.

I visited the museum years ago, and while I didn’t personally witness any paranormal activity, there’s definitely an eerie feeling inside, as if you’re being watched and not entirely alone.
