Step Inside Missouri’s Scariest Haunted House
I hate being scared. I hate watching scary movies. And when someone asks if I want to go into a haunted house, my response is always, “Can you turn the lights on?” However, if you’re someone who thrives on thrills and chills, you’ll want to check out the best haunted house in America, conveniently just a short drive from the Tri-States.
The Darkness: St. Louis’ #1 Haunted House
St. Louis is home to some of the best haunted houses in the country—if you’re brave enough to step inside. One of the most famous is The Darkness, located in Soulard just off South Broadway in downtown St. Louis. Year after year, it’s ranked as one of the top haunted houses in America.
History of Terror: 30+ Years of Scares
Known as the “King of Scream,” The Darkness has been terrifying visitors for more than 30 years. And let’s be honest, any haunted house that’s been around for three decades definitely knows how to scare the pants off people.

Dates and Visiting Tips for Thrill-Seekers
There are dates available in September if you just can’t wait to scream your head off. But if you really want to challenge yourself at the number one haunted house in America, the true thrill-seekers will hold out until October.

Since I usually jump at my own shadow, this is definitely a “no” for me. But I have family members who love going to this haunted house and others like it. They always “survive” and come out with big smiles on their faces, which I guess means it’s not that bad. As for me, I’ll happily wait outside, relax, and enjoy the peace of knowing I won’t have nightmares later.
