One of Missouri’s best roller coasters is celebrating a big birthday, and work is already underway to make sure it’s the best celebration yet.

Why the Screaming Eagle Is Still a Fan Favorite

The Screaming Eagle at Six Flags St. Louis is turning the big 5-0 this year, and during the off-season, the maintenance team is making sure the famous roller coaster is ready for a milestone year filled with riders.

Retracking of the iconic hill is currently taking place, along with other minor maintenance improvements, as many visitors to Six Flags this summer will want to take a ride on the legendary coaster.

A Look Back at the Screaming Eagle’s History

The high-speed coaster made its Six Flags debut in 1976 and has remained one of the main attractions at the Missouri theme park ever since.

I’ll admit that, as much as I’m not a fan of wooden coasters, I’ve ridden this one at least once. While it was definitely scary, and I’ll probably never ride it again, it was still fun to experience at least once.

So far, there hasn’t been any word on what kind of celebration Six Flags St. Louis will have this summer to mark the iconic coaster’s anniversary. But whatever they decide, I can promise you even more people will be visiting the theme park to help celebrate this year.
