Whether it’s baking cookies, decorating the Christmas tree, or catching a movie on Thanksgiving night, these are traditions I truly cherish. And if you’re looking to add something new to your ever-growing list, there are several magical holiday events right here in Missouri that could become part of your family’s traditions, too.

Missouri is filled with festive celebrations that bring out the holiday spirit. From Branson to Kansas City to St. Louis, you’re sure to find something special to enjoy and pass down for years to come.
An Old Time Christmas – Silver Dollar City, Branson
Now through January 4th, Silver Dollar City is hosting An Old Time Christmas, one of the nation’s most spectacular holiday festivals. With more than 6.5 million lights, live shows, festive food, and a breathtaking eight-story Christmas tree, it’s the kind of holiday tradition I can definitely get behind. There are also parades, specialty treats, and plenty of photo ops throughout the park.
St. Charles Christmas Traditions – St. Charles
From November 28th through December 24th, downtown St. Charles transforms into a scene straight out of A Christmas Carol. Stroll along Main Street lined with themed decorations, meet classic holiday characters, visit Santa at the historic train depot, and experience a charming small-town celebration that feels like stepping back in time.
Kimmswick Christmas Festival – Kimmswick
Taking place December 5th–7th, the Kimmswick Christmas Festival is the definition of holiday charm. The town’s historic buildings are beautifully decorated, carolers fill the streets with music, and visitors can enjoy luminary walks, local shops, festive treats, and photos with Santa.

Winterfest – Festus
Winterfest in Festus is a one-day celebration on December 6th, but it’s packed with fun for the whole family! You’ll find breakfast with Santa, craft and food vendors, ice skating, pony rides, face painting, a Santa House, and even a cookie-decorating contest.
Kristkindl Markt & Holiday House Tours – Hermann
On the weekends of December 6–7 and 13–14, Hermann celebrates its German roots with the Kristkindl Markt and Holiday House Tours. Enjoy authentic German foods, drinks, and holiday décor as you experience a traditional European-style Christmas right here in Missouri.
