Missouri Classic Sandwich Has Been Named – Never Heard of It
A national website just named a classic sandwich in each state and the one that was named is Missouri I have never heard of have you?
Delish.com just named a classic sandwich in every state and I get the Illinois sandwich, Italian Beef. Heck, there even is a show on Hulu about it The Bear. However the website's pick for Missouri is well weird, so weird I have never even heard of a sandwich like this. The Gerber sandwich is an open-faced sandwich topped with garlic butter, ham, and local Provel cheese. Maybe that's why I haven't heard of the sandwich it has cheese on it.

The sandwich was created in 1973 by Ruma's Deli and you can try one. There are a few locations in St. Louis that have this "classic:" sandwich. I can think of a few other classic sandwiches that might have been a better choice. Like St. Paul, Park Chop Suey also in St. Louis, Schottzie’s Bar and Grill still cooks up the signature brain sandwich, and locals love Gioia’s Deli for hot salami subs.

The menu at Ruma's Deli looks like a typical deli menu. Sandwiches, soups, and salads, but it looks like I have another bucket list place to try in St. Louis, and as much as I hate cheese I will order this and give it a try.
