According to NBC Chicago, there is a new law in the Land of Lincoln that will require companies to publish how much you will make if you are applying for a job. Illinois is only the 9th state in the country to pass such a law, and NBC Chicago goes on to say...

"Illinois’ law requires employers with 15 or more employees to disclose pay scales and benefits in job postings. It isn’t just for new hires – the law also requires employers to announce and post all promotion opportunities to current employees within 14 business days of posting the job externally. Supporters say it’s crucial to closing racial and gender wage gaps."

This is a move that I can imagine many other states making, people deserve to know exactly what the job is paying before applying to the job. I also think this will help eliminate the worst words you can read when applying for a job, "We offer a competitive salary"...ya... that is just the WORST. What is good about being upfront with the salary is that it puts the pressure on the business to determine what the position is worth, and if you apply and they really want you you can negotiate a different salary knowing at least where the starting point on the salary is. Do you think this is a good idea?
