According to WalletHub's new 2023's Best States to Live in list you are much better off in the Land of Lincoln than the Show-Me State. Illinois ranks 13th on the list a full 21 spots better than Missouri which finishes 34th on the list. For perspective, the best states to live in this year are Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New Hampshire (uhhhh Northeast bias much?), how did they determine these rankings? On the site they say...

"...there’s 50 states to choose from, from frigid Alaska to sunny Florida. Each has its own benefits and drawbacks. If you do the math, some states clearly outshine others in various categories. To find out the best states to live, WalletHub compared the 50 states based on 51 key indicators of livability. They range from housing costs and income growth to the education rate and quality of hospitals."

So what makes Illinois better in the eyes of the experts? Well, there are 5 major categories everything is broken into, Illinois ranks 2nd in Safety, and 4th in Quality of Life. The only category that really hurts the Land of Lincoln is the Economy where Illinois is deservedly ranked 48th...Compared to Missouri which is ranked a high 4th in Affordability, but ranked no higher than 25th in any other category, and ranked a poor 40th in Safety.

Is Illinois that much better to live in than Missouri? I think not, especially living in the Tri-State area there is no way you can honestly say we have it wayyyy better on the Illinois side of the river compared to the Missouri side.
