Experts ranked Missouri as one of the WORST States for Women

If you are a woman experts say you should avoid living in the Show-Me State of Missouri, why? Here is what they have to say, and did they get it right?

According to the experts at WalletHub, Missouri is one of the worst states for women to live in 2024. Missouri ranked 42nd out of the 50 states on their recent list of the Best & Worst States for Women, in comparison Illinois ranked 20th on the list, Iowa is 19th, and even Kentucky ranked better at 31st on the list. How did WalletHub create these rankings? On their site, they say...

"In 2024, women in some parts of America still get the short end of the stick – even as they outnumber men in most states. For instance, women represent more than two-thirds of all minimum-wage workers in the U.S... WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 25 key indicators of living standards for women. Our data set ranges from median earnings for female workers to women’s health care to the female homicide rate."

Missouri ranked only ahead of Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Arkansas, West Virginia, Wyoming, and Georgia, basically the entire South. Did they get it right?

I think this is very subjective, minus the murder rate numbers, everything can be interpreted differently depending on your views. Obviously, if there are states where the murder rate and violent crime rate against women are extremely high, those states should be lower on the list. But if you are being critical of states like Missouri for tough abortion laws, some women may argue that's why they love living in Missouri. I don't think Missouri is bad for women from what I have experienced, but if you feel strongly one way or another about this, comment away!
