Where is Missouri on the List of the MOST Educated States?
Experts ranked the most and least educated states in the country in 2024, and you may be surprised where the Show-Me State lands on the list...
According to WalletHub's new list of the Most & Least Educated States in America 2024, Missouri is the 32nd most educated state in the country. Missouri ranks below average and is behind states like Alaska, Nebraska, North Dakota, Illinois, and Wyoming. How did WalletHub determine which states are more or less educated than other states? On their site, they say...
"A good education is a ticket to a better future. Generally, the higher the level of education one completes, the higher their income potential and the lower their chances of unemployment become. Some states are able to provide better quality education than others, though. In this study, WalletHub compared all 50 states across 18 key indicators of a well-educated population: educational attainment, school quality and achievement gaps between genders and races."
Missouri ranked a poor 31st in the crucial Educational Attainment category, that category consists of factors like the Share of Adults with a High School Diploma, the Share of Adults with at least a Bachelor's Degree, and so on. Missouri did rank better than some comparable states like Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Kentucky. To see the full list for yourself, click here!
Did they get it right?
To be honest, I have no idea if they got it "right" but it doesn't feel right to me...Missouri has some fantastic places for further education like Mizzou and Washington University in St. Louis. But if this ranking is based on the amount of people in your state with degrees then fine you can argue Missouri isn't as "educated" but that doesn't mean it is a "dumb" state. Do you agree with this ranking?
