The Best Vineyard in Missouri is right in the middle of the State
You have probably never heard of the tiny Missouri town called Smithton, but it is home to an award-winning winery that can boast the claim of being the Best Vineyard in Missouri in 2022, so what makes it so unique?
According to Missouri's Best Awards, the winner for the best vineyard in Missouri in 2022 is a winery from Smithton, Missouri called Wildlife Ridge Winery. Missouri's Best awards hand out winners for a number of different categories and you can see all of the 2022 winners by clicking here, but I wanted to focus on the gorgeous vineyards of Wildlife Ridge Winery, on their website they say...
"Wildlife Ridge Winery... a 3.5-acre lake on our 98-acre farm, along with a facility for wine tastings, wine, and gift sales...We started out making small amounts of wine and have now turned our business into a 7,500 gallon a year winery operation...Wildlife Ridge Winery is open year-round with plenty of inside seating as well as unlimited outside seating..."
So where is Smithton, Missouri, and this incredible vineyard and winery? Well, Smithon is off of route 50 east of Sedalia, and about an hour's drive southwest of Columbia. According to Wikipedia, Smithon has about 570 people and was named after a guy named George Smith who was a railroad promoter.
