Star Stories in Hannibal

I personally have been fascinated with the night time sky for years and years now. I fell in love with star gazing and everything space related when I worked at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago for years, there are so many things to see when you look up at a clear, light pollution free night time sky. So if you you want to learn about what you see when you look up, check out this event hosted by the Hannibal Parks and Recreation.

"Star Stories" is happening on Saturday, Sept. 19th at the Frisbee Field, the open grassy area beyond the four-way stop at Riverview Park in Hannibal. This event hosted by the Hannibal Parks and Recreation is a chance to learn about the constellations and planets above you in the night sky, on their Facebook event page they say...

"Participants will be introduced to using a star chart and how to find some of the main constellations and planets visible this time of year. Gale Rublee, nature educator for Hannibal Parks & Recreation will be explaining how constellations are connected to characters in Greek Mythology...Looking up at a night sky filled with stars, planets, and distant galaxies makes us realize, in one instant, earth is one very small part of a much larger system..."

They also strongly encourage guests to bring chairs, blankets, and binoculars if you have some. This is fun for the whole family to go out and enjoy!
