What Would Pokemon Representing Quincy Illinois Look Like?
With Lego releasing their first collection of adult Pokemon figures my mind ran wild with which ones they would be. There are so many adventures, regions, gyms and Pokemon to choose from. To the surprise of no one Lego rolled with the evolved forms of your original three beginning choices: Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur, plus Pikachu and Eevee (for some reason).
2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Pokemon
My mind began racing with what Pokemon would look like around this part of Illinois and Missouri. Seems the perfect region name would be “Forgottonia”. Yes, there would be gyms in Quincy and Hannibal. But what would the Pokemon look like? I employed AI to figure that out.

The Quincy Pokemon includes a dachshund base with an Abe Lincoln stovepipe hat, lederhosen, a belt of gems, and a basketball. I didn’t ask AI to name it, but attacks could include the dog’s bites, the basketball, and something with the gems impairing another Pokemon’s vision, or perhaps a hypnotic effect. Defense could include digging as Dachshunds do that well.
The Hannibal Pokemon is based on a river catfish with hints of Mark Twain’s hair and mustache, a paddle wheel for a tail, the top of a lighthouse for a hat and a book tucked under a fin. Again, I didn’t ask AI to name it. But, attacks could include the spinning paddle wheel, the lighthouse blinding opponents, and Twain-like snark. Defense could be a selection of readings from “A Tramp Abroad”.
Pokemon is 30 years old this year. It’s high time there were regional American Pokemon. Ash Ketchum can “catch ‘em all” along the Mississippi River. Let the games begin.
