Sock monkeys always freaked me out. I am not sure why and where it all started, but there is just something about money with big red lips that creeps me out, But, if it's your thing then there is a hidden museum in Illinois you must check out.

The Sock Monkey Museum, yes it really exists, is located near Rockford and has over 2,000 sock monkeys. More like a nightmare for me. Opened in 2019 and has the largest selection of sock monkeys in the world. It's really an interesting story of how the museum came about. It all started in 2006 with one only sock money travailing the world and a mission to find others like him. Then came the museum

The Museum houses one of the World’s largest vintage Sock Monkey collections, displayed on two floors. Visitors can view the Sock Monkeys in many different settings. They can learn about their history and the Rockford Red Heel Socks they are made from, and find out why Sock Monkeys are still popular today. There are exhibits about the history of socks through the ages, along with fun sock facts.

So, if you ever wanted to know where these specific monkeys came from and the history of how it all started this is your first stop. The museum has a gift shop where you can get your very own sock monkey and other goodies from the museum.

I think me they remind of clowns and that is where my creepiness comes from.
