This is a list of architectural buildings throughout the state that are a must-see and Quincy is on that list a few times. It's no surprise, Quincy is rich in history with several architectural buildings and areas to visit.

East Maine Street

The AIA Illinois website describes this portion of Quincy as,

rich architectural heritage with tremendous integrity is on full display through the vernacular interpretations of anonymous craftsmen, gifted local architects, and nationally renowned designers.

Many of the homes built on Maine Street were for prominent and influential families of Quincy. Just walking up and down the street you can see how detailed all of the homes are, and how they are all kept up so that we can still enjoy these magnificent buildings today.

Quincy Airport

Dedicated back in May of 1975 this is one of the most interesting buildings in town. The architect, John Benya, not only built and designed the airport but also designs St. Boniface Church and remains two of his favorite projects. The airport has very distinctive features including the blue skylights, and a curved and circle design through the building.

Governor John Wood Mansion

Taking three-year to build and several German craftsmen, the John Wood Mansion is a staple in the Quincy Area. Built for the first Major of Quincy, this Greek-Revival home makes a statement with the four massive columns in front. Several artifacts from the Wood Family are inside the home, and tours are given throughout the year for everyone to see the beautiful home.
