Missouri Town Named a Top 25 Finalist in Hallmark’s Merriest Christmas Town Contest
I know it’s only August, but this girl loves Christmas, and if I can write about a Christmas contest, you bet I’m all in. Hallmark is searching for the Merriest Christmas Town, and one Missouri community has made it into the Top 25.
Parkville Makes Hallmark’s Top 25 Christmas Towns
That town is Parkville, Missouri.
Right now, you can learn more about all 25 finalist towns and vote for the community you think takes Christmas to the next level.
What Makes Parkville So Merry at Christmas?
Parkville’s entry highlights its Historic Downtown, which comes alive during the holiday season with thousands of lights and decorations, transforming the town into a Christmas wonderland.
According to the contest entry, decorating begins in November as local businesses and storefronts go all in for the holiday season. There’s also a tree-lighting ceremony, music throughout downtown, food, and, of course, you can’t have a Christmas tree lighting without the big man in red, Santa Claus.

The entry also highlights the town’s annual Christmas on the River celebration, which has been taking place since 1992. After reading the entire entry, you can tell that the whole community truly embraces the holiday spirit.
I’m not exactly sure what the winning town receives; maybe it’s mostly bragging rights for the year, but if you’re one of these 25 towns, that’s kind of like winning a gold medal in the Olympics.
