The famous Oktoberfest, the one over in Germany, just ended yesterday. But if you, like me, weren't able to head all the way to Munich and spending two weeks in a drunken stupor... actually why didn't I do that? I'm totally banking my travel points and vacation days for next year.

Where was I? Oh yeah! Oktoberfest. If you didn't get to Munich this year, Quincy's own Oktoberfest is coming up this Saturday at Dick Brothers Brewery at 9th and York, hosted by the Rotary Club. The sixth annual celebration of German culture will feature live music from The Ubercool Band from noon to 4pm, and the Bolzen Beer Band taking the stage at 5:30pm.

They've been doing a lot of work updating the brewery and tunnels, so make sure you go on the tours. The 0.2K (not a typo) Beer and Brat Dash is an athletic event we can all get on board with, and of course just generally enjoying the delicious food and beer! New last year were Calftown Trolley Tours from noon to 4pm, and they'll be continuing the trolley tours this year. For a full schedule of events, or to buy advanced tickets, check out the Rotary's webpage here.

I still haven't bought lederhosen, an Alpine hat or a dirndl, but I'll be showing up in my kilt. Close enough... See you at Oktoberfest!
