As we celebrate National Tom Sawyer Days this weekend, here are my top 3 favorite Mark Twain quotes!

Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago you learn about Mark Twain as any other kid around the country would, you learn he is a brilliant American storyteller and author, who wrote some of the most influential books in our country's history. But ever since I moved from Chicago to Quincy a year and a half ago, my knowledge and love for Mark Twain has grown. You can't help but feel this connection to him every time you walk down Main st. in Hannibal, and over this past year and a half I have discovered three Mark Twain quotes that I know will stick with me through life.

#1) "If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything." This is absolutely iconic. It speaks volumes about how simple life can be for you if you constantly are honest with yourself and those around you.

#2) "If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and man." As a dog lover this one rings so true to me. Dogs are truly mans best friend, and if you show a dog love they will love you back forever.

#3) "It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog." Obviously we have all heard this quote soooo many times in our lives, but I had ZERO idea it was a Mark Twain quote until movie to the Tri-States.
