As much as I travel, I’ve visited my fair share of gas stations — and one of the biggest names in the country happens to dominate the Missouri market.

Whether you’re stopping to fuel up, grab a snack, or take a quick break, gas stations these days offer much more than just a pump and a bathroom. With mega stops like Buc-ee’s and Wally’s, gas stations have become full-blown destinations, places where you can stretch, shop, and even explore.

While Missouri is home to only one Buc-ee’s, most drivers rely on one of the most established names in the business — Phillips 66. With more than 550 locations across the Show-Me State, it stands as Missouri’s most popular and trusted gas station brand.

According to scrapehero.com, Phillips 66 is the number one gas station in Missouri, followed by Conoco and Sinclair.

These three together make 74.86% of the top 10 gas stations in Missouri.

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
