Missouri Postal Service Warns Not to Ship These Items as Gifts
Before you buy that perfume or nail polish set you might want to know that both are illegal for the United States Postal Service to receive.
Mind Blown
I had no idea that these items were somewhat illegal to ship, not only during the holiday season but year-round. According to USA Today, there are several items that the United States Postal Service will not receive due to how dangerous they can be when shipping.
Some of the Items Include:
Before you buy disinfectants, nail polish, and perfumes know that that these items have extremely strict package and shipping policies. Since they can be flammable.
Officials also warn about perfume, nail polish and nail polish remover. While some of these items can be mailed, there are strict limits on quantities, packaging and other factors.
Toys Even Make the List
What would Christmas be without grandma and grandpa not being able to ship toys to their grandkids, knowing that even some toys have restrictions on shipping? Make sure when sending a toy for a gift the toy does not have any sort of Lithium Batteries in it.
Postal officials say lithium batteries are considered hazardous materials, and they “remain highly regulated” in transportation. That's because when they're improperly prepared, they can catch fire or potentially explode.
A full list of what can and can't be mailed can be found on the United States Postal Inspection Services website. Some of the items include
- Ammunition
- Firearms
- Fireworks
- Mercery
When in doubt, just send a gift card and you won't have to worry about your gift not being able to make it in time for the big day.
