According to Cannabis Business Times, Missouri is one of 8 states with legalized cannabis that will make over $1 BILLION in sales in 2023. Missouri ranks 7th in total sales of legalized cannabis in 2023 with a projected $1.34 billion. On the site, they say...

"In 2023, there are eight adult-use cannabis states that are projected to eclipse the $1-billion benchmark in total retail sales from their respective markets...Missouri, which Cannabis Business Times projects to surpass $1.3 billion in combined adult-use and medical sales this year, based on monthly data from the state’s Department of Health and Senior Services, will be the lone newcomer."

The states that are bringing in more cannabis money than Missouri are California with $4.9 billion, followed by Michigan with $2.9 billion, Illinois with $1.9 billion, Massachusetts with $1.7 billion, Colorado with $1.5 billion, and Arizona with $1.36 billion. To learn more, click here!

How High is too High?

Could Missouri reach the $2 billion mark in 2024? It is possible but at this point, I think people who were proponents of legalized cannabis from the start would be thrilled to see that Missouri made over a billion dollars in its first year. The article goes on to mention how Missouri is the least populated state to hit the billion-plus mark, and that Missouri only legally started selling in February, so the numbers could certainly be higher when you have a full calendar of 12 months in 2024.
