Hannibal > Lake of the Ozarks?
A list of the best places to visit in Missouri ranks Hannibal extremely high!
Sometimes I think living in the Tri-States we take for granted how much of a tourist destination Hannibal really is. When I first moved to Quincy two years ago, I quickly realized how much happens in Hannibal, and just how fantastic the main street shopping and dining is! Well incase you have forgotten about just how special and unique Hannibal is, one website is here to remind us all.
According to the website Vacationidea.com, Hannibal ranks as the 10th best place to visit in the state of Missouri, on their list of the top 25 places to visit in Missouri. To see the entire list click here, when talking about Hannibal the site says...
"...Many of Tom Sawyer’s and Huckleberry Finn’s adventures were set in Hannibal. The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum is one of the popular attractions. Rockcliffe Mansion is a beautifully restored museum home with many original furnishings and décor. Kids will love exploring Mark Twain Cave and Cameron Cave on a hot summer day, especially if they read about them in Tom Sawyer’s adventures..."
They go on to mention that Hannibal also has the incredible views from the lighthouse, and has a boat tours that will give you a real feel for the city. Hannibal ranks 10th on this list behind places like St. Louis, Kansas City, Branson, and Columbia, none of which is surprising. BUT what I did find surprising is that this website ranks Hannibal ahead of Lake of the Ozarks which they have incredibly low on their list at 16th... Now I LOVE Hannibal don't get me wrong...BUT I went to Lake of the Ozarks last summer and was blown away by all of the fun stuff to do there, along with the great restaurants. Do you agree with this list?
