Fiesta Del Sol Home Brew Competition Coming to Hannibal

Hannibal's Central Park will be alive with home brews and music during the Fiesta Del Sol celebration on June 21. The event will take place from noon until 9 p.m.

This first-ever event is being hosted by Hannibal Area Homebrewers Association. Attendees will be able to taste home brews from across the the tri-state region. Beer samples from around the world will also be available and prizes will be awarded for the top home brews.

Patrons will be able to sample each of the beer offerings from the home brewers competing in the first ever Hannibal Home Brew Competition. Guests will then cast their vote for a “People’s Choice” Fiesta favorite. A group of craft brewers and beer experts will also judge all entries. Winners will be announced following a seminar on craft brewing by Goose Island Brewer Ryan Brei. Prizes will be awarded for Fiesta Favorite and Celebrities Choice.

Live music will fill the park as well. The schedule of performers is:

• 12 pm-1:30pm Tim Hart
• 2:30pm-4pm Mercer and Johnson
• 4pm-5:30pm Deep Fried Squirrel
• 5:30pm-7pm The Flood Brothers
• 7pm-9pm Chicago Farmer

Plenty of food will also be available, including recipes by author, restauranteur and philanthropist Ingrid Croce. Croce, the widow of singer and musician Jim Croce will also be signing books from 1 to 5 p.m.

Advance tickets for Fiesta Del Sol are $10 and are available online. Tickets at the event will be $15.

Proceeds from Fiesta Del Sol will benefit the Rotary Club of Hannibal. The event is sponsored by Goose Island Beer Company.
