Dinosaur Bones Found For a 2nd Time at Small Illinois College
For the second time, a small Illinois college is becoming a hot spot for geologists as a second set of dinosaur bones has been discovered.
Sitting on the bluffs of the Mississippi River is Principia College a 2,600-acre campus that has been around for 125 years. But before the college started, there were some other beasts that lived on the land of Principia College...dinosaurs. There is living proof that large beasts have lived on the land. Not one, but two Mammoth bones have been discovered on this small campus.
The first was discovered back in 1999 and it took almost 14 years for the bones to be dug up according to Only in Your State. It took 13 students over those 14 years to carefully dig up the bones which are on display a the college's science building. The new discovery was just found in 2022 so who knows how long it will take to dig up carefully.
Now researchers have two possible ideas on what the bones could be. Either a wooly mammoth or a mastodon. Nevertheless what an amazing find for the second time at a small college. A small Missouri town has also made some national news with several dinosaur bones found over several years.
