Concealed Carry Illinois
While sitting at lunch today, I decided to break out my phone to write a blog (multi-tasking at its best).
My phone has a feature that "clicks" as each letter is pressed, which is a big help for me, since I am not the best typist in the world and I tend to type multiple letters at one time. Since I have used this feature for so long, I sometimes forget that the noise can invade other peoples "listening space".
A gentleman that was dining near me got up from his table and said to me "If conceal carry was legal in Illinois I would shoot that phone."
For a moment I felt bad. Here was someone, like me, sitting by himself in a restaurant trying to enjoy his lunch, when some idiot starts click click clicking not 6 feet away.
If this gentleman had turned his head and said "can you please stop that clicking?", I would have apologized, shut off the clicking feature, and continued to do my work. Isn't that what your mother taught you - to treat others as you would like to be treated? But to wish that he had a weapon so that he could take care of the problem with a bullet instead of with his words...is this what the world is coming to?
Concerning Concealed Carry - I am not a big fan of this. I am neither pro nor anti-gun. I do believe there is a place for guns, but I don't think we need to be putting guns in the hands of people that would want to pull it out in a restaurant to shoot an inanimate object that happens to be making sounds that are aggravating to them.
Do you think that Illinois should have a Concealed Carry law? Please comment below, but don't just put yes or no - convince me why you feel one way or the other.
