Is this REALLY the Best Pie in all of Illinois?

Illinois grows more pumpkins than any other state and yet the "best" pie in the state according to Yelp, is a hand-held spicy pie...Here are the details on the "Best" pie in the Land of Lincoln...

Yelp released a list of the best pies in each state of the country and in states like Georgia you have the Peanut Butter Pie, Delaware has the Coconut Cream Pie, Maine has the Fresh Baked Blueberry Pie, and then Illinois has something called the Huevos Rancheros Hand Pie from a place in Chicago called Beard & Belly.

The Huevos Rancheros Hand Pie, according to the menu on Beard & Belly's website, is "Flaky pie crust filled with house-made Chicken chorizo sausage, white cheddar, scrambled egg, and salsa verde. Served with salsa verde for the dipping." Beard & Belly has more than just this hand pie on the menu, they also serve items like the B&B Cobb Salad, The Half Pint Burger, the Alabama Fried Chicken, and so much more. Did they get it right?

It is impossible to say if they got it right or not, I will say that this seems like a miss though... I bet I would love this spicy hand pie because I love spicy food, but it doesn't feel like a pie in the traditional sense of the word. As I said at the beginning of the article Illinois is the pumpkin king of the US, there has to be a great pumpkin pie made somewhere in Illinois that is deserving of the title "best pie in Illinois"
