We may be in the coldest part of winter (we hope), but that should not stop you from getting away and enjoying some swimming.

Indoor waterparks are somewhat popular here in Illinois, and now is the time to utilize them, especially if you have kids that just need to burn off some energy. So, if you are needing a getaway and don't want to travel too far here are some of the best indoor water parks in Illinois.

Pirate's Cay Indoor Waterpark

Only open on the weekends, this is the perfect little waterpark for kids to burn some energy. There are tubes rides, a lazy river, dump buckets, shooting water gubs, and a parrot's perch. This one the whole family can enjoy. Just give me a lazy river any day.

Grand Bear Resort

This resort is fairly big with 24,000 square feet of water fun. There are waterslides, a wave pool, a lazy river, and a 15 person hot tub. There is even an area for the littles with a kiddie pool and small water slides. They even have a thing called Ducky Derby, I have to know what that is.

Great Wolf Lodge

Now, I have stayed at a Great Wold Lodge and it really is an amazing place to stay at. Not only do you have a pretty entertaining indoor waterpark, but there are other games and activities located on-site. You really don't have to leave the lodge for anything, not even food and dessert.  There is a lazy river, wave pool, several slides (both big and small), and depending on where you stay, lots of ways to burn energy off.
