The last Red Wolf was shot in Missouri over 70 years ago, but they are slowly gaining in numbers outside St. Louis, MO. at the Endangered Wolf Center.

The plan is to care for the current limited numbers of Red Wolves, encourage increase in numbers and within fifty years – remove them from the endangered list. The Endangered Wolf Center in Missouri is integral in this effort at their spacious grounds near Eureka, Mo.

They don’t just keep Red Wolves. They also have Maned Wolves, Mexican Wolves, Swift Foxes, Fennec Foxes, Red Foxes, Arctic Foxes and African Painted Dogs. These Canids aren’t just on display, you are encouraged to get involved in the effort to save and re-establish them by adopting a wolf (our family did this for many years).
