St. Louis Woman Jailed for Stealing Car, Headbutting HPD Officer
A St. Louis woman has been charged in connection with an incident that took place in Hannibal Friday.
Hannibal Police received a report from a woman about 2:15 p.m. Friday that her vehicle, purse and keys had been stolen while she was inside a business in the 300 block of Broadway.
The initial investigation indicated a person of interest, 18 year old Zyiah Wooten had been in business prior to the theft.
Ralls County deputies located the stolen vehicle on Highway 79 just south of Continental Cement.
About a half-hour later, an off-duty Hannibal officer say Wooten in the 1200 block of Broadway.
As officers were taking Wooten into custody, she allegedly headbutted one of the officers.
Personal items and vehicle keys belonging to the victim were found in Wooten's possession, along with an iPhone that had been stolen from the Hannibal Wal-Mart.
The officer who was headbutted did not require medical treatment.
Warrants were issued Saturday by the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County, charging Wooten with tampering with a motor vehicle and assault.
Wooten is in the Marion County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond.
