According to NBC Chicago, the city of Chicago is on pace to have its WARMEST February ever. Not only could it be the warmest February for the city of Chicago ever, but it will also go down as one of the least snowiest Februarys on record for the Second City. In the article on NBC Chicago, they say...

"There’s a good chance the rest of the month will have highs in the 40s and 50s, which would bring the total number of days where temperatures reach or exceed 40 degrees to 27 days. The record for the most 40-plus degree days in February is 25, which was set in 1998.  Even though we have an extra day this month because of the leap year, it’s astonishing to only have two days not reach the 40s. The average high temperature so far this month is 44.8 degrees. With our forecast for the rest of the month, that number would rise to 46.8 degrees, the second warmest on record."

What does this mean for Chicago?

I lived in Chicago, on the north side near Wrigley Field, for years. One of the years I lived there was 2017 and I remember how warm and easy that winter season was. What does this mean for Chicago in the long term? I don't know...I am not a climate expert and I don't pretend to be one. I'm sure that it can't be "good" meaning that I'm sure it is impacting the ecosystem in some negative way. BUT...I will say that people always complain that the Winters in Chicago are tooooo harsh, and if the average temperature in Chicago in February is in the mid 40s...that's anything but too harsh.
