Quincy’s Creepy Clown Story is Even More Terrifying Than We Thought
The creepy clown story we shared on Sunday night was weird enough. Now it's downright frightening.
On Sunday night, five teenagers dressed as clowns emerged from the woods surrounding Quincy’s Driftwood Campgrounds to have a little fun by scaring campers.
We caught up with one of the campers, Jessica McGartland of the Quad Cities, who shared exactly what went down.
According to McGartland, one of the clowns, recklessly walking a line of childish and dangerous, approached her six-person group at their campfire while holding a large knife in his hand.
“He asked me if I wanted to come and play,” McGarland says. “It wouldn’t have bothered me, but when I saw the weapon, that was it for me. I didn’t find it funny.”
Making the story even more despicable, the youngest camper in the group, a friend’s 15-year-old autistic son, was appropriately was frightened by the scene so much so that he is now afraid to walk outside.
Jessica called 911 to report the sighting, to which the operator laughed and said “you have got to be kidding”. Police dispatched five officers to the scene, but the clowns had dispersed and were not caught.
Asked if she has anything else to add, Jessica offers the following:
“[The clowns] were not kidding. Everyone [needs] to stay safe.”
