Ever want to be a lifeguard? Feeling that need to help somebody, be it guarding at the local pool, a stretch of beach at a river or lake, or perhaps even keeping watch over an entire bay.

I know sometimes it's hard to see, but in you, you have the power to save lives, you just need the training and the skills to do so. The Quincy YMCA Is the best place to get those skills, with the Lifeguard Certification Course coming up April 23rd through the 27th. It is definitely a time commitment at five hours a night for an entire week, and strong swimming skills are definitely a requirement, but you earn an American Red Cross certificate in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding that's valid for two years.

It's the amount of training that you'll get out of these courses, it's modestly priced at $120 for members, $140 for non-members. If you've previously been certified and just need to re-up, they offer Re-Certification Classes April 28th and 29th at $50 for members, $75 for non-members

So don't stand in the darkness. Don't be afraid to step into the light. Sign up for lifeguard classes now at the Quincy YMCA.
