Last week, I wrote about a potential new national furniture store possibly moving into the Quincy Mall. Last night, the Quincy City Council made a vote to make that happen.

The Quincy City Council voted and approved the buying of the 90,000 square foot building previously obtained by JC Penney. A national furniture will come in, renovate the building for its needs, and rent out the half that remains. As long as there are no hiccups, the retailer could move in quickly. Still no word yet on who the retailer is.

Many of you have commented that if the new retailer WAS another furniture store, that an IKEA or Nebraska Furniture Store would be nice. Well, Quincy is too small for an IKEA, but a Nebraska Furniture Store would be nice. I will keep you updated on this situation as information is made available.
