Though you wouldn't know it to look or step outside, it's almost time for the Quincy Farmer's Market to return to Washington Park. I love walking up there, getting some fresh veggies and then deciding what dish I can make out of them. To say I'm awaiting the first Saturday of May with baited breath is an understatement. May 5th, by the way. That's the first Saturday in May. The reason I'm anticipating the first Saturday in May is because the Farmer's Market runs every Saturday, May through October. Probably should have made that clear.

Now I don't grow things, because there isn't much in the way of arable land or tillable soil in my paved apartment parking lot, and I'm pretty sure my landlord would be a little upset if I rented a back hoe and dug it up. So I personally can't sign up to be a vendor. But if you grow something or have something that could be on display and sold at the Quincy Farmer's Market, you can fill out an application on The District's website. If you sign up for the annual fee, and get your application in by May 5th (there's that date again), you get 10% off your fee.
