Overlooked Missouri State Park has Spectacular Fall Views
Southern Missouri is a place rich with beauty and charm. With the fall leaves starting to change color there lies in between highways running through southeastern Missouri a place mostly overlooked by those who venture out looking for the best views of the season.
Hawn State park is nestled between I-55 and Mo-67 just north of Coffman, Mo. It’s ripe with special treats like rocky out croppings, cliffs, waterfalls and canyons. Plus, you’ll want to have proper footwear for the five hiking trails including backpacker faves; Pickle Creek Trail and Whispering Pine Trail.
If you want the full Hawn experience sent up your tent in and camp in the park, or if you have an RV there are electrical hookups too. Make sure to make reservations.
State parks are good fun in Missouri, but balancing out amenities, views, access and visitor load can be challenging as everyone wants the best of all the above.
Keep it between you and a couple close friends and get to Hawn State park, south and west of St. Louis this fall and bring your camera for spectacular pics, memories and a low key place that is less touristy than most Missouri state parks, but packed with all the experiences.
