Best Wooden Coaster in the Country is in Missouri

It's really no surprise that Newsweek says Outlaw Run at Silver Dollar City is one of the best coasters and wooden coasters in the country. Outlaw Run makes the top ten best coasters in the country for 2025. Also on the list are El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, and Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Universal Studios in Orlando.

After a moment at the top admiring the Ozarks, you'll be flipped upside down not once, but three times—unheard of for a wooden coaster—as you speed along at 68 miles an hour.

Outlaw Run is also the only wooden roller coaster with a double barrel roll. Now, I’ll be honest—I’m not a big coaster person. And if I am getting on a roller coaster, it better be made of metal. There’s just something about the creaking of the wood that freaks me out. As fun as those wooden coasters look… I’m out.

I am hoping that we can make it to Branson this summer so my family and I can FINALLY experience what all the talk is about with Silver Dollar City. I know we will not be disappointed.
