October is ‘Adopt a Shelter Dog’ Month
Throughout the month of October, the Quincy Humane Society wants to remind you how important it is to think about adopting a dog from a shelter.
Recently, my family and I rescued a dog from a shelter and we just love her to pieces. Luna is crazy but fits into a family very well. We have always been an adopt-not-shop family and strongly encourage those of you looking for a four-legged friend to do the same, and the month of October is a great time to think about adopting a pet.
Adopting an animal is a big decision, so to make sure you make the right decision for yourself and your family, the Quincy Humane Society has several rooms for you to sit with the animals to make sure that it's a perfect fit. This is the time to get to know the animal and bond with it. We were able to foster our new puppy for two weeks to make sure she got along with our other dog and us too.
The Quincy Humane Society is always looking for volunteers as well as donations of pet food and toys. And if you just want to stop by and play with the animals for a few minutes, you're more than welcome to do that as well. There are so many dogs and cats that need homes, if you've ever thought about adopting an animal make sure you do your research and work with any humane society to make sure the animal is the right one for you.
