If there were one store I could bring back, it would be Barrels N Bins. It was a kid’s favorite store to visit, and let’s be honest, parents loved it too.

Where Barrels N Bins Was Located at Quincy Mall

Barrels N Bins was set up like a classic candy store, with bins filled with every type of sweet lining the perimeter. It was located on the east side of the mall, across from Diamond Dave’s and Waldenbooks, both of which have since disappeared.

Barrels N Bins: A Kid’s Dream Store

Walking into Barrels N Bins felt like stepping into a dream. You could find anything your sweet tooth desired: sweet, sour, soft, hard, chocolate, lollipops, anything you could imagine. My favorite part was the table in the middle of the store where you could pick out ten pieces of candy for just $1. I loved it.

Sneaking Candy Into the Movies

Laffy Taffy, Airheads, lollipops—every treat a kid could want was there. I remember walking in with a couple of bucks and sneaking my candy into the Quincy Mall movie theater. Don’t judge me, you would’ve done the same.

Sadly, Barrels N Bins is no more. I’m not sure when it closed, but it’s definitely missed. Sure, you can buy candy just about anywhere now, grocery stores, drugstores, Walmart, but it’s not quite the same as a good old-fashioned candy store like Barrels N Bins.
