Missouri State Sen. Pushes $1K for Info on Illegal Immigrants
Incoming Missouri state Senator David Gregory of St. Louis County filed a pre-bill for the upcoming legislative session in Jefferson City that proposes to pay Show-Me State residents $1000 for info that leads to the arrest of illegal immigrants within the state.
Gregory wants to have the Mo. Dept of Public Safety maintain and manage a system whereby Missouri residents can email, call a free hotline or log onto an online portal.
The senator-elect wants to implement a new “Missouri Illegal Alien Certified Bounty Hunter Program” that will allow bail bond agents or surety recovery agents a.k.a. “bounty hunters” to apply to be certified by the state for the program.
Once apprehended the plan is detain the illegal aliens until the federal government agrees to deport them, or they are vetted and released as legitimate asylum seekers.
The potential legislation would also forbid illegal aliens in the state from voting, getting a driver’s license, getting tax payer funded assistance amongst other restrictions.
Opponents say this could open the door for potentially dangerous situations between citizens and immigrants, legal or otherwise, and civil rights attorneys will most likely challenge the plan if it’s passed at the capital.
