2 Missouri Cities See Big Increase in Homeschooling Enrollment
Deciding the best educational path for your child—whether it's private school, public school, or homeschooling—is a big decision for any family.
Since the pandemic, homeschooling has seen a large increase across cities in the United States. Families are opting for this alternative as they look into traditional schooling options, influenced by factors like health concerns, personalized learning opportunities, and flexible schedules.
Home Schooling Numbers Have Double in Missouri
Since the pandemic in 2020, there has been a 6% increase in students enrolling in homeschooling in both St. Louis and Kansas City. According to STL PR, over 60,000 children are currently enrolled in homeschooling.
According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, there are over 1 million school-age children in the state. Roughly 879,000 students are enrolled in public schools.
Another factor contributing to the rise in homeschooling is the shift in perception surrounding it. The stigma surrounding homeschooling has shifted more positively than ever before. Also, there are more opportunities available for homeschooled students with better technology available to families.
More Homeschool Opportunites
I know several families that homeschool their children and the requirements that they have to accomplish almost seem a bit tougher there a private or public education, but that could be a good thing. The more challenged a child is, the more successful they will be.

So whether or not you decide to home-school school it looks, at least in bigger cities, number is increasing and seems to be going up each and every year.
