Zack and Brie Smithey of St. Charles built this home back in 2016 which consists of shipping containers which once carried tires to China. They were featured on CBS Sunday Morning last weekend. The home was also featured on Yahoo News.

Missouri Family's Shipping Container Home Featured on National TV

According to what they shared on the show, Zack's business now involves helping other families design and create their own shipping container homes. He mentioned that while it's becoming a very desirable home trend, potential builders need to remember it isn't necessarily cheap with the usual costs of plumbing and electric being built into the home. It's not as simple as picking up a half dozen discarded containers and then having a home ready to go.

It was their unique tastes and art style that obviously got the attention of the national TV producers. Nice feature on local Missouri people who took a unique home idea and made it their own.
