Missouri Cattle Farmers Level Up With Help from Drones
Farmers across the country are finding unique ways to implement technology for support purposes.
Instead of devoting man hours to traversing acreage on the farm to check on fences, animals and other things, Missouri farmers are employing drones to get quicker and larger visuals on assets.
Drones are being used by farmers nationwide to assess crop growth, soil conditions and potential issues after inclement weather.
Modified drones are also being put to work in the ag world in a variety of ways. Certainly with cameras for visuals of property in a quick manner, but also application of pesticides. Sometimes crop dusters aren’t available for a specific time window. Not an issue if you can send a drone modified to spray crops on your time table.
Drones with cameras can check your cattle for head counts while you are completing another task. You could also use the drone to track a particular heifer that’s ready to have a calf to cut down on time looking for her when she’s ready to deliver.
There will be many tech advancements in the coming years for the ag community. Drones are just at the front end today. American farmers are innovative, so there are uses for drones that we haven’t seen on a wide scale yet that are perhaps being worked out today.
As the price of drones comes down and invention of subsequent implements being employed we may very well see not just individual drones being used but a network of drones or a swarm out working together.
