Popular Missouri Retailer Ends Gift Card Payments—What to Know
It has not been a great year for major retailers. Kohl's, Macy's, and Walgreens all announced that they will be closing locations this year. One in particular, which plans to close all locations by the end of May, announced that they are no longer accepting gift cards.
JOANN Fabric announced that the popular fabric and craft store will be closing all 500 locations by the end of May. This is due to filing for bankruptcy.

So now the closing sale begins, and if you were waiting to use that gift card, your time has unfortunately run out.
You Can No Longer Use Joanne Gift Cards
On January 15, JOANN Fabrics declared bankruptcy to try and stay open for as long as possible. One month later, on February 15, the fabric and craft store franchise announced that they would be closing all 500 locations and going-out-of-business sales would start.
As the end of May closing date creeps closer and closer, it was announced that February 28th would be the last day gift cards could be used at the store.
Other Policies to Know About
All sales are final. Discounts for Girl Scouts, teachers, military, and healthcare have been paused. No returns will be expected at this time. So far, this is all the polices that have been announced, but be prepared for more policies to be announced with a specific closing date.
