Does this Illinois Lake Really Have Crystal Clear Water to Swim in?
Maybe you don’t go swimming in lakes. You’ve told people why. You can’t see the bottom. You don’t know what’s swimming down there. What’s that smell…??? You know who you are.
Let me introduce you to Lake Le-Aqua-Na near Lena, Illinois, just a couple miles south of the Wisconsin border that is supposed to have pristine clear water. There are a few campgrounds surrounding the 40 acre lake, so even though the man made lake is isolated, its popularity means there are many people each day partaking of its goodness.
There is a beach to relax on under the sun. Swimming is allowed but there are no lifeguards on duty. Fishing is encouraged as there are bluegill, crappie, bass and bullhead waiting to bite. Go boating too! Only boats with electric motors are allowed. You can kayak, but there are no rentals, so you’ll need to bring your own. Hiking is also easy with a 1.8 mile trail around the lake.

Lake Le-Aqua-Na was rehabbed in 2023 following a swimming tragedy by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and is named for the closest town Lena, with “aqua” jammed in between.
Swimming, Hiking, Fishing, Kayaking, and Camping at a popular clear lake in Illinois. Book a space and experience it for yourself. Is Clear Lake clear? Is Crystal Lake crystal clear? Compare them to Lake Le-Aqua-Na in Illinois. It may just be the lake you CAN swim in.
