A Hannibal man is in the Marion County Jail on drug related charges.

Hannibal Police officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Enforcement Squad conducted a traffic stop on Grand Avenue just before 4:30 p.m. Monday.

HPD reports the driver of the car, 19 year old Austin Lain of Hannibal, appeared to be driving impaired. Officers observed what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette in plain view in the car.

A search of the vehicle revealed substances believed to be methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia and items consistent with the sale of narcotics.

There was also a 16-month old child in the vehicle.

The child was released to family members and the Children’s Division was notified.
Lain was taken to the Marion County Jail, charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Lain is being held on $25,000 bond.
