Free Fishing Weekend in Illinois Runs Friday Thru Monday
This Friday will mark the beginning of the 2020 Free Fishing Days in Illinois. The great family event runs through this Monday, June 22.
Free Fishing Days is a four-day celebration of fishing in Illinois when anglers can fish without purchasing a fishing license, salmon stamp or inland trout stamp.
For years now, the Quincy Park District and Townsquare Media have also presented the free "Fishing Rodeo" at Moorman Park Lake for all ages to participate. Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled by the Park District due to COVID-19.
The Fishing Derby may have been cancelled, but the summer Fishing Clinics are still being held. The fishing clinics are designed for beginners to seasoned veterans. The Park District provides instructors with a wide range of fishing knowledge, including safety tips.
This weekly event, for ages 3 and up, takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Moorman Park Lake. To participate, just sign up online for the fishing clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. The remaining dates are as follows:
June 23 & 25, June 30 & July 2, July 7 & 9, July 14 & 16 and July 21 & 23. Each clinic runs from 9 to 11 a.m. and is free but, registration is required online. There is a limit of 20 kids per week.
So grab your rod and reel and head to Moorman Lake! No rod or reel? No worry! One will be provided for you. For more information, contact the Quincy Park District at: www.quincyparkdistrict.com.com.
