Quincy Park District has announced today that they are cancelling all fall sports, here's what you need to know...

With coronavirus cases on the rise in Adams County, and across large portions of the United States, plans and activities scheduled for the Fall are starting to be cancelled. The latest announcement comes from the Quincy Park District, which announced today that they are cancelling all fall sports.

On the Quincy Park Districts Facebook page they said...

"Due to the new restrictions issued by the Illinois Department of Health, Governor Pritzker and Adams County Health Department the Quincy Park District is canceling all fall youth and adult sports for the safety of all involved...These activities, despite their importance in the development of youth, can never take precedence over the health and safety of those same youth as well as the health and safety of our community and parents/fans who attend these events. The Quincy Park District made a difficult decision but, in the end, staff simply felt that there are too many unknowns to proceed safely at this time."

This is another sad day, in the long string of sad days that we have all endured over the past four plus months since COVID-19 started sweeping across the United States. From graduation cancellations, to no concerts, movie theaters closing, not being able to attend sporting events, and now more activities for kids being cancelled. It is just so tough because I remember how important fall sports were to me growing up, hopefully there will be plenty of opportunities for these kids come spring time next year.
