Experience Giraffes Up Close at This Missouri Zoo’s New Habitat
Guests of the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium will be able to get up close and personal with some of its majestic giraffes.
A New Giraffe Habait Coming to the Kansas City Zoo
Soon guests of the Kansas City Zoo will be able to have access to giraffes all year round with a new habit being built and slated to open May 2026. The current African habitat is 30 years old and the new habit will allow guests to visit giraffes inside when it's too cold for the animals to be out.
This will allow guests to interact with the giraffes more and learn more about these amazing animals.
A large indoor giraffe habitat directly attached to the outdoor yards means weather will no longer be a barrier to seeing the animals year-round.
There will also be a new concessions stand available along with ADA-accessible restrooms and a mother's room with toddler seats.

The new habitat will also be a benefit for the giraffes. It will allow them to not walk as far from the barn where they stay to the outdoor facility, and they will be able to choose whether they want to be in or out for the day.
