Edgewood Orchards Cider Available October 1
In a Facebook post, Quincy’s Edgewood Orchards announced that this year’s first batch of signature apple cider will be available starting October 1. In keeping with tradition, samples of cold cider on tap will be available for patrons as well.
Each year, Edgewood freezes the remaining cider inventory to sell at select retailers and events throughout the spring, summer, and early fall. It isn’t typically until October that fresh, seasonal apple cider is available for purchase.
It takes approximately 300 bushels (12,000 pounds) of apples to make one batch—or 1,000 gallons—of cider.
According to their official website, the 3,000 trees at Edgewood Orchards grow approximately 12,000 bushels of apples (over 1.1 million apples) in a given year. They grow 13 varieties of apples and offer a number of homemade candies, jams, honey, and more.
They are open Monday through Saturday during the fall season from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sundays from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
