Did You Know Quincy Has A Distillery?
If you know me, you know I love my alcoholic beverages. Beer, rum, whiskey, various others... Generally I'm just for whatever gets you through the night. When I moved to the area a few years ago, I was excited there was a brewery and a handful of wineries to visit and support. Can't go wrong supporting local beverages. Then we got another brewery with Quincy Brewing. Now, we've got a Distillery, and I love the name: Ghost Hollow Distillery.
Ghost Hollow Distillery, obviously sharing its name with the road on the south side of town, produces a locally distilled whiskey and vodka. Not that I have anything against vodka, but I prefer whiskey, and immediately hit up the Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits on Broadway looking for it. They must have had it well hidden because I found the vodka, but no whiskey to speak of. Maybe they just hadn't put it out yet. But I'll be trying it as soon as I find it.
What's cool is that a portion of the sales from the whiskey and vodka go to supporting veterans and military programs. Per their website, the family behind Ghost Hollow Distillery has a long history of military service going back generations, so they donate to the causes near and dear to their hearts.
