Celebrations of chocolate and the Irish top the list of area happenings this weekend.

Downtown Hannibal celebrates its 5th annual Chocolate Extravaganza all day long, with events and lots of specials among the downtown merchants.

Quincy's 29th annual St. Patrick's Day parade steps off from 12th and Maine Saturday at 11 a.m.

Blessed Sacrament Parish hosts its 66th annual St. Patrick's Dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus in Quincy.

The District's annual St. Patrick's Pub Crawl happens Saturday in downtown Quincy.

Other Saturday events include:

A Red Cross blood drive at Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church in Quincy from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The 23rd annual Quincy Senior High School Showcase of Excellence runs from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the high school.

The Hannibal Arts Council hosts a book signing for the book, "The White Horse." On hand will be author Eli Goodman and illustrator Brenda Beck Fisher from 5 to 8 p.m., in conjunction with the Second Saturday Gallery Walk.

St. Mary's School in Mt. Sterling hosts a Trivia Night in the school gym with a dinner at 5 p.m. and trivia at 7.

Sunday's calendar includes the annual St. Patrick's Day Festival, with a full day of activities at the Shrine of St. Patrick in St. Patrick, Missouri.

The Frankford Volunteer Fire Department's chili and vegetable soup lunch is Sunday in the Frankford Christian Church basement.

And, First Baptist Church in New London begins a series of revival meetings Sunday at 7 p.m.
